Oppenheimer opens in theaters nationwide July 21 from Universal Pictures. I showed Oppenheimer to a filmmaker recently who said it’s kind of a horror movie. “ It is an intense experience, because it’s an intense story. But the love of the characters, the love of the relationships, is as strong as I’ve ever done.” I mean, there’s an element of fear that’s there in the history and there in the underpinnings. “ Some people leave the movie absolutely devastated,” Nolan tells the outlet. Sounds pretty intense, yeah? Well according to Nolan himself in a new chat with Wired, it’s “kind of a horror movie.” Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, this summer’s Oppenheimer is an IMAX®-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it. ![]() “Oh the glorious life of a creepy monster!”Ĭheck out the incredible makeup below, which came courtesy of Kelly Capoccia! “So while in this make up I had to have my grilled cheese sandwich chopped up into little pieces and I used a toothpick to eat with because my fingers were so long and sticky,” she humorously captioned one of the photos. So what did Vela-Bailey look like when the makeup team got done with her? Peeling back the curtain, the actress/stunt-woman just uploaded a couple crazy behind the scenes shots to her Instagram ( revealing Diana in all her glory. Diana cuts a chilling silhouette in the film, but most of that makeup was not actually seen on screen. The character, bathed mostly in darkness throughout much of the movie (with only her piercing eyes illuminated), was played by Alicia Vela-Bailey, who underwent an extensive makeup process in order to be transformed from beautiful actress to creepy movie monster. When you flick them back on, she’s gone as fast as she came. When you turn the lights off, she appears. Sandberg, Lights Out introduced the horror world to a potential new icon in the form of Diana, a creative villain who quite literally only exists in the darkness. Believe it or not, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman stunt double was the same woman who played the terrifying Diana in last year’s Lights Out!ĭirected by David F.
